We have received notification that the Joint Redress Bill Te Rohe o Rongokako Joint Redress Bill was introduced to Parliament today.
You may recall that aspects of our Rangitāne redress were to be jointly managed or shared with Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tamaki nui-ā-Rua. We have been awaiting the introduction of the Te Rohe o Rongokako Joint Redress Bill to give effect to that redress which includes:
- Redress in relation to Wairarapa Moana and the Ruamahanga River, including the vesting of the bed of Lake Wairarapa
- Joint vesting of the Mākirikiri Gravel Reserve and Mataikona property
- Vesting of the Mākirikiri Recreation Reserve and the Mākirikiri Scenic Reserve in our tupuna, Te Rangiwhaka-ewa
- Overlay classification at Castlepoint Scenic Reserve
