Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā Trust are seeking to elect an experienced Board member who is of Rangitāne o Wairarapa descent to sit on the Te Karu o te Ika Poari Hauora – Iwi Māori Partnership Board.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
The role of Iwi-Māori Partnership Boards (IMPBs) is to act as advocates for whānau and communities across the Wairarapa.
It is essential that you have an understanding of the Maori health sector and local community healthcare needs. The board’s role is to hold the Government health sector to account, monitor their performance to meet the needs of Māori across Wairarapa.
The board also provides feedback on how the health sector is performing in meeting the needs of Māori across the Wairarapa.
Te Karu o te Ika Poari Hauora supports tino rangatiratanga and mana motuhake for whānau Māori health and wellbeing.
Kōrero mōu | About you
The Board of Te Karu o te Ika Poari Hauora is currently made up of seven members. They work under the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures Act) 2022 (the Pae Ora Act), and the Board is involved in a wide range of governance activities. The functions of the Board are set out in section 30 of the Pae Ora Act. There is also a requirement for Board members to act in good faith, with reasonable care, diligence, skill, honesty, and integrity.
The ideal applicant will have the following key skills and attributes.
- Capacity and commitment to fulfill the role and duties of a Board member/Director
- Governance experience, including an understanding of public sector accountability
- Experience and knowledge of the machinery of government
- Financial experience is an advantage
- A working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi particularly in relation to Hauora Māori healthcare settings
Other desirable skills and attributes include:
- Setting strategies and objectives and ensuring that these are met.
- Demonstrated governance/management experience in projects, especailly around prioritisation and risk assessment
- Communication at all levels
- Credibility with and experience of working in close partnership with Iwi and Māori communities
